A lovingly-restored garden has helped raise vital funds for a village church.

Bradfield St Clare residents Rebecca and Peter Leando opened up their ‘spectacular’ four acre garden to around 200 visitors on Saturday.

The event, which also hosted produce and plant stalls, children’s activities and a jazz band, among others, raised £1,250 for the St Clare Church Roof Fund.

Patricia Hipwell, one of the church wardens, said: “It was a huge success. I can’t think of any other event we’ve had for the church that’s raised more, at least not in the 30 years that I’ve been here. It was a really lovely community event.”
