It was not just the children at Barrow Primary School who put on Christmas productions because the staff also put on their own panto at the village hall for the second year.

Following the success of last year’s Cinderella, they did Sleeping Beauty, co-written by assistant head-teacher David Barrett and the school’s IT support manager Mark Denny, who also directed the show.

The king was teacher Nick Keefe, who was last year’s dame, while it was David’s turn as dame this year as the queen.

The villain (boo, hiss) was the evil Fairy Nuff, better known as head-teacher Helen Ashe.

The three night production raised money for the school’s PTA funds to provide facilities for pupils.

David said: “Writing it ourselves, we’ve written the parts knowing the people who’ll play them well and we could choose our own character names.

“I must thank all the school for their support and the local community.”
