More than £2,000 was raised for St Nicholas Church in Rattlesden over the bank holiday weekend at the village’s colourful flower festival.

The four-day event saw between 400 and 500 people view the 44 flower displays - all based around the theme of ‘Come Fly With Me’. Arrangements were based on holiday spots across the globe celebrating everywhere from Portugal to New Zealand.

David Gooderham, a member of the parochial church council, said: “It all went very well -we had an excellent turnout.

“It was a successful weekend and we were delighted with the support from people who came.

“Some came from as far afield as Woodbridge and East Bergholt. And the displays themselves were absolutely fantastic.”
