WHEN Elizabeth Jones celebrated her 80th birthday, she decided to share her birthday cheer with others by raising money at her party.
Elizabeth – also known as Betty – held a fun-filled birthday party at Hengrave Village Hall on December 4 to celebrate turning 80 on December 14. But instead of presents, she asked her friends and family to make donations to the West Suffolk Voluntary Association for the Blind (WSVAB).
Betty, who is partially blind, presented a cheque to Maureen Jackson at Moreton Hall Community Centre, in Bury St Edmunds, on Tuesday.
Betty said: “I didn’t want any presents because you have everything at 80 so I thought I would give money to WSVAB to thank them for all their help. I would like to thank my friends, it was a party I will never forget.”
