Bin days to change across Mid Suffolk and Babergh

Bin days are set to change across Mid Suffolk and Babergh as part of plans to 'future-proof' waste and recycling services.

The authorities say the number of households they collect waste from has increased over the last 10 years. As a result, the majority of residents will see their bin day change next month.

By re-routing and introducing new collection rounds, the councils hope to make them more fuel efficient.

Those affected will receive information about their new collection day from next week, with new collection days starting from July 15.

Waste and recycling collections will continue to take place on alternate weeks on the new collection days, with garden waste collections unaffected.

Cllr Jessica Fleming, Mid Suffolk cabinet member for environment, said: “We’re working hard to provide our residents with the best waste collection service possible, but a lot of change has taken place over the past 10 years in Mid Suffolk.

“It’s crucial we adapt our routes to work efficiently in response to new developments so we can continue to deliver these services today and in the future.”
