Bidders sought for West Stow amenities

Ever fancied leasing a piece of a unique historical landmark? Now is your chance, as several sites at West Stow opened up to bids next month.

On Tuesday, St Edmundsbury Borough Council’s Cabinet approved a number of lots at the Anglo Saxon village to be offered to bidders alongside the launch of an application to bid process.

A camping and caravan site, visitor centre, gift shop and café are among the lots up for grabs.

The 20-25-year lease on the camping site could be signed from August this year, while the seven plus three-year leases on the other facilities couldbe signed from October.

Also up for auction is the site’s Pump House, for a minimum three-year lease.

Bidders will be able to submit responses for some or all of the lots. The application to bid will be distributed from April 10, and the deadline for responses will be May 11.

A planning application for a campsite at West Stow is due to be considered by the borough council’s development control committee in June.
