The Better Broadband for Suffolk roll-out is three months ahead of schedule.
It uses Government and county funding to build on BT’s commercial plans, which already aim to take fibre broadband to about 200,000 Suffolk premises.
This week Suffolk County Council announced the first 2,500 premises to benefit, in 16 communities, will have access to superfast broadband by the end of September.
The areas benefitting include the Springfield Road, Moreton Hall Industrial Estate and Buttermarket areas of Bury St Edmunds and Creeting Road, Stowmarket.
By the end of 2013, 10,000 properties will have superfast through the programme. Suffolk County Council is ensuring everyone has speeds of at least 2Mbps by 2015.
