A couple have returned to their much-loved village pub and are looking forward to introducing its new look to the local community - at a three day beer festival.
Sue and Chris Smith ran the Cowlinge pub for around eight years when they left due to illness in November 2013 and decided to lease it out.
They returned in February, in good health, and began a major refurbishment project in preparation for its official launch in two weeks’ time.
As well as installing a new kitchen and roof, they have redecorated the interior with warm autumnal colours and landscaped the exterior.
They have also introduced visual oak barrels in the bar and hung black and white photographs of Cowlinge’s past on the pub’s walls.
The name has also changed - to The Three Ways - and a brand new website and phone number has been launched.
Sue said: “We’re really glad to be back, even more so because we’ve had such a wonderful welcome. We didn’t realise how many friends we’d left behind.”
The revamped country pub serves two ciders, three premium lagers, including Peroni, and eight real ales. It also offers £10 meal deals Wednesday to Friday and will be introducing traditional Spanish tapas nights from July 1.
It will be showcased at a beer festival running from June 19-21 where visitors will be able to enjoy 15 real ales, as well as a hog roast, barbecue and live music.
