Beavers celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee

Have your say

MORE than 100 Beaver Scouts gathered at Moreton Hall Community Centre on Saturday for their big annual bash – the Beaveree.

Beavers from 11 colonies in the Bury St Edmunds district turned up for the day of fun and activities.

This year, the event took a royal theme, inspired by the Queen’s upcoming Diamond Jubilee.

The children, all aged between six and eight, took part in a host of activities, including building castles, making crowns and racing London buses they had made and painted.

Assistant District Commissioner Margaret Chilestone said: “It was excellent fun.

“And it all goes towards their friendship badges, joining in with activities with Beavers from other colonies.”

Several colonies are currently in need of additional adult leaders to help out with activities.
