Get your bucket and spade ready, Stowmarket is hosting its annual beach party on Saturday.

The popular free event, from 2pm to 9.45pm on Saturday September 5, will see the town’s recreation ground transformed into a sandy beach with donkey rides, a bouncy castle, a circus skills workshop and Punch and Judy.

Following from last year’s success, the ‘Golden Mile’ race, organised in partnership with the Stowmarket Striders, will once again join the party with more than 200 runners expected to take part.

The Beach Party will see the Town Council working in partnership with local charity Trust Maria to raise money for specialist equipment and facilities for local hospices.

Beach Party organiser David Marsh said: “Last year’s event was great, the Stowmarket Striders and Trust Maria really added to the festivities, so we’re really pleased that we’ll be working in partnership with them again.

“The event has always been about creating a day out that the whole family could enjoy together without spending a fortune. “
