Organisers of Bury St Edmunds' Whitsun Fayre say its popular urban beach attraction is ready for tomorrow.

The beach was installed this evening after a mix-up meant the sand could not be delivered in time for the event today.

Mark Cordell, chief executive of Our Bury St Edmunds, said: "Although we were naturally disappointed not to have the beach in place for Sunday, the fantastic weather and range of different free activities at the Whitsun Fayre meant that it was still a fantastic family day out and there were lots of happy visitors throughout the day.

“Monday is expected to be mainly warm and sunny so with the added attraction of the urban beach there’s every reason to visit the Our Bury St Edmunds Whitsun Fayre. And if you missed the beach on Sunday – the whole event, including the beach, has free admission on Monday."

The Our Bury St Edmunds Whitsun Fayre is held across Bury St Edmunds town centre on Bank Holiday Monday between 10am and 4pm.

The urban beach is outside Moyse's Hall Museum.
