THE Orchard Barn renovation project at Far Ringshall, near Battisford, has had a successful 2011.

The OBee Community Interest Company (CIC), which manages the project, completed the roof of the building, laying 200,00 wooden tiles by hand with a group of more than 70 volunteers.

The Obee CIC also won a planning appeal to use the barn for rural skills development, opening a programme of natural and traditional building courses in March.

During the year the great wall of cob was completed with 240 mixes of the straw, clay, sand and earth mix used.

This year, plans are already under way to renovate an old boundary hedge.
