FINANCIAL transactions became a more pleasant experience for Barclays customers this week after the bank opened its new site in Bury St Edmunds.
Its former Abbeygate Street site closed on Friday and the branch opened up as usual on Monday, but in its new Buttermarket location.
Jane Goodship, who started work at the former site as a new entrant in 1978 and closed it as branch manager on Friday, said: “I had mixed emotions because there were lots of memories but it’s exciting coming here. This is such a fabulous opportunity, there’s nothing like it in Bury.”
The bank has been modernised with glass frontage, televisions screens, open counters to create a more personable service and a lounge for its premier customers. It also has parking outside and more self service machines.
