A NURSERY has raised hundreds of pounds from a balloon launch and pyjama walk in memory of mother-of- three Sarah Applin.
Green Wellie nursery, based at Barrow Day Nursery, has so far collected £800 in aid of a tribute fund, which was set up to buy a motion bed at West Suffolk Hospital where Mrs Applin was treated.
The 32-year-old died in January after catching swine flu just weeks after the birth of her son.
Sarah Chaplin, senior nursery nurse, who was friends with Mrs Applin, organised the event which saw 40 purple balloons – her favourite colour – released following the sponsored walk.
Mrs Chaplin said: “I’ve had great support from the parents, staff and children of the Green Wellie nursery so I would like to thank them very much and also we had a discount from Dance Crazy, in Bury St Edmunds, who sold the balloons.”
