THOUSANDS of pounds of vintage trains and toys will be going, going gone this Saturday.

Corgi collectables, model trains and Dinky toys will go under the hammer at Eriswell Hall Barns auction house.

The collection was put up for sale by the family of John Parsons, of Barton Mills, who died in November.

John had put together the collection over 25 years.

Further items have been added by other collectors.

Auctioneer David Palmer, who has appeared on TV in Bargain Hunt and Flog It, said the lots were about more than just owning a collector’s item and that he had only one concern.

He said: “We are selling a dream here – these are things that people will have played with when they were young.

“My main worry is wives keeping an eye on their husbands’ wallets.”

The auction starts at 12.30pm.
