THE LANDLORDS of a pub in Tuddenham have presented a cheque for £1,800 to the hospital that cared for their 12-year-old daughter.

Paul and Rebecca Casson held an auction and raffle at The White Hart pub to raise money for the paediatrics department at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

Their daughter Charlotte was treated at the hospital after being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, an inflammatory bowel disease.

Rebecca hoped that as well as raising money for the unit, the event would raise the profile of the little known disease.

Charlotte was first diagnosed two years ago, since when she has had two operations and numerous hospital visits.

Six months ago the right medication was discovered to relieve her symptoms and allow her to lead a normal life.

The money raised at the auction, which was attended by many from the village, will go to make a DVD to be shown to children before they go into theatre, explaining what will happen.

Rebecca said: “I think it would have been amazing for Charlotte it was such a scary time going in and not knowing what was happening.”
