Auction in memory of football legend Sir Bobby Robson needs more prizes

Have your say

With just five weeks to go until Sir Bobby’s Breakthrough online charity auction gets underway, organisers are appealing for more prizes – big or small.

Prizes already donated include match day experiences at top Premier League clubs and a chance to see the England senior team practice at Wembley, as well as luxury holidays and cooking with a two-star Michelin chef.

The auction, which will run from October 10–27, aims to raise £1 million for charities that work towards the early detection and treatment of cancer - the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, Breakthrough Breast Cancer and cancer services within two Suffolk Hospitals.

Sir Bobby’s son Mark Robson, who is also part of the Sir Bobby’s Breakthrough committee, said: “Sadly, cancer is likely to affect every one of us in one way or another and my family knows firsthand the pain it can cause. That’s why we are so committed to continuing the work started by my father in supporting research for new treatments.

“The online auction is a fantastic platform to help us raise crucial funds for these charities and we are looking forward to the auction going live in October.”
