Arts, STEM and sport at Bury trust
The Bury St Edmunds All-Through Trust, which includes County Upper School, Horringer Court Middle School, Westley Middle School and Tollgate Primary School, have recently had a number of successful days across the performing arts, STEM subjects and sport.
County Upper students sang as part of the East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices carol service in St Edmundsbury Cathedral.
PE pupils from across year 7, 8 and 9 travelled to the High Performance Centre in Colchester where they each underwent a series of fitness tests and received an individual report on their current fitness levels.
Year 7 students participated in a special drama day, which was based on ‘Private Peaceful’ by Michael Morpurgo, a famous novel based on World War One.
Pupils also got involved in the performing arts, where they welcomed performance poet, Joshua Seigal, who encourages pupils to appreciate poetry.
Pictured middle bottom is year 6 pupils from the trust during a science day which saw the students work on a ‘mousetrap-style challenge’ at County Upper School. Students used their understanding of forces and electrical circuits to complete a ‘chain reaction’.
Finally, pupils from across year 8 contributed to a STEM activity during a mathematics and business day.
