An appeal to raise cash for West Suffolk Hospital’s Trauma and Orthopaedic Department has marked its first anniversary by passing the halfway point to its £25,000 target.

The Arthrose Appeal has raised £14,200 since it was started by Ixworth businessman Ben Lord in gratitude for the treatment his nan Beryl Rose and other family members had for arthritis.

As well as funding special walking frames for people recovering from hip and knee replacement, Ben hoped the campaign would also raise awareness of the unit’s work.

Ben said: “I am truly delighted with how well this appeal has been supported within the community.”

Dave Gooderham, fundraising manager for West Suffolk Hospital Charity, said: “We are indebted to Ben for not just raising a signidficant sum of money but also for the time and dedication he has put in.”

Donations can be made at www.justgiving.com/ArthroseAppeal and you can follow it on Facebook or via Twitter @benlorduk. For more information on supporting the appeal contact Ben on 01359 232667 or ben.lorduk@gmail.com
