Arrests after residents report suspected drug dealing in Stowmarket




Five people were arrested in connection with drugs offences in Stowmarket after residents reported suspicious activity.

Four people were arrested at a property in Lydgate Road on Saturday, November 24 including two men, aged 19 and 28, on suspicion of supplying drugs.

Another man, 40, was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply drugs and a woman, 32, on suspicion of possession of class B or C drugs.

A large amount of cash was recovered from the property.

They were all released under investigation.

A 28-year-old woman was also arrested on Friday, November 23 in Onehouse Road.

Sophie Dragon, of Mallard Way, Stowmarket, was subsequently charged with possession of class B drugs and is due to appear before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on Monday, December 4.

Inspector Shawn Wakeling, of Stowmarket SNT, said: “This police activity came as a result of residents in the area reporting suspicious activity.

“These arrests are a clear demonstration that we will take action against reports of suspected drug dealing in the town.

“With support from the public who provide us with intelligence about suspect activity in their communities, we will continue to disrupt drug production and supply activity.

“The supply and dealing of illegal drugs will not be tolerated and residents can be reassured that any information passed to police will be acted on.”
