Police need to trace a motorcyclist after a fail-to-stop collision near Kentford this afternoon which left a cyclist with a serious head injury.

Officers were contacted just after 3pm to reports of a collision between a motorcycle and a pedal cyclist on the B1506 at Kentford, near Newmarket.

It is thought the motorcyclist rode off towards Newmarket without stopping or leaving details.

Police and ambulance attended and found the cyclist, a man thought to be in his 50s, with shoulder and arm injuries. However, it became apparent that he had also sustained a head injury and may have internal bleeding.

He is being taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital by land ambulance. The road is currently closed while initial enquiries at the scene get underway.

Police are asking the motorcyclist involved, anyone who saw the incident or anyone with information about the motorcycle or the person riding it to call Suffolk Police on 101 quoting CAD 271 of Tuesday, February 17.
