Every Heart Matters legacy windfall pushes £500,000 appeal towards target
An appeal to raise £500,000 towards cardiac facilities at West Suffolk Hospital has been boosted by a £150,000 legacy, weeks before the campaign is due to finish.
The legacy means the Every Heart Matters appeal total now stands at £434,000, leaving it £66,000 short of its target.
Sue Smith, My WiSH charity fund-raising manager, said: “This is absolutely incredible news and we cannot thank the donor enough for their extreme generosity.
“This incredible donation has almost taken our Every Heart Matters appeal to target and we would love to express our sincere gratitude to the donor’s family.
“Legacies are such a special way our community can thank their local hospital and community services it provides for treatment they have received.
“Remembering the charity in someone’s will really does mean we can enhance the care patients receive and their families, too.”
In the past, legacies have allowed the charity to purchase items including specialist hoists, a portable chest drainage system and bladder scanners.
“We were also left another wonderful legacy last year for the appeal, which gave it a phenomenal kick start of over £100,000,” added Sue.
West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust is investing £5.2 million in developing a state-of-the-art cardiac suite at the Bury St Edmunds hospital.
The £500,000 My WiSH appeal will lead to the unit being housed in one purpose-built centre.
