THE Apex, the council-owned venue on the arc development in Bury St Edmunds, has now sold £1 million worth of tickets since it opened in October 2010.

The figure represents 170,392 tickets for a programme that has included both big names and community artists and all musical genres and tastes.

Sara Mildmay White, St Edmundsbury Borough Council’s cabinet member for culture and sport, said “I am absolutely delighted that The Apex, having won many awards is going from strength to strength.

“In addition, it is making a significant contribution to the night time economy, the prosperity of the town and its cultural offer.”

Venue director Tony Doherty praised The Apex’s team and council support for the venue.

He said “Hard work has helped to build an impressive reputation in such a short time.”
