The Gym Mildenhall will open to the public for business on Monday February 2 with a sneak peak for potential new members, its managers have announced.
New gym equipment is due to arrive at the end of January and members and potential members will be given a sneak preview of how the new gym will look next week, with guided tours and new member discounts.
The Gym Mildenhall is moving from the Dome Leisure Centre to a vacant wing of the Forest Heath District Council offices, in College Heath Road, marking the first step in plans to create a community and public services hub in Mildenhall.
The current gym at the Dome Leisure Centre will close on Thursday January 29 to allow the transition to commence.
Centre manager Nigel Snape said: “We are delighted that our new gym will be open to the public from the beginning of next month and we can’t wait for people in Mildenhall to see it.
“I think both current gym members of The Dome and members of the public looking to join will be very pleased and surprised how we have turned the vacant wing at the council offices into a fantastic fitness facility with a purpose built air conditioned dance studio for classes.
“I am very pleased and impressed with the work that has been carried out and I cannot wait for gym goers to try out the brand new equipment that will compliment the current equipment we have.”
New Technogym equipment for the gym will include free weights, an International Powerlifting Federation compliant Olympic half rack and cable machine dual adjustable pulley. The Olympic half rack has 12 positions to help users work every muscle in their body and challenge themselves with differnent exercise combinations.
The new central location in the town will allow for easier access to the gym, and means users will not be sharing facilities with Mildenhall College Academy. Other community uses of the Dome Leisure Centre in the evenings and at weekends will not be affected.
The new gym, managed by Anglia Community Leisure in partnership with Forest Heath District Council, will allow enhanced facilities for users including an air-conditioned dance studio and larger gym with new changing rooms.
