And the winner is... The Chase pub

A man who has raised near to £50,000 for the Guide Dogs charity revealed the winner for his final fund-raiser on Tuesday.

Bryan Garnham, from Great Barton, revealed that The Chase pub, Thetford, has won a replica of the bell and rope, which hangs in Lloyds of London, which was recovered from the wreck of the Frigate HMS Lutine – which sank in 1799 carrying a large cargo of gold.

Mr Garnham raffled the replica to pubs in the area.

Wayne McKay, general manager of The Chase, said: “It will be placed behind the bar for last orders.”

The Chase is undergoing a refurbishment from Sunday until September 20, where afterwards the bell and rope will have pride of place.

Mr Garnham said: “I’m glad they got it, it’s a really nice pub.”
