ALLOTMENT holders in Brandon are hoping the Environment Agency will allow new fencing to stop thieves.

Brandon Town Council heard on Monday night how allotments near the sports centre were being persistently targeted.

Allotment holder Derek Lloyd said: “They are pretty much leaving us with nothing. Anything that is good enough is taken.”

The town council wants a chain link fence but has been advised it would be refused planning permission because it is on a flood plain.

The council decided it would contact the Environment Agency to see what security measures would be acceptable, before submitting a planning application.
