When is the deadline for Bury St Edmunds parents to apply for a primary school place?

Suffolk County Council has reminded parents there are only a few more days before the primary school application deadline for September 2020 starters.

The final day to make an application is Wednesday, January 15, and this also applies to infant, junior and middle schools.

It is relevant to children born between September 1, 2015 and August 31, 2016.

The county council will provide a school place for children if an application is submitted after the deadline. But the authority will prioritise applications submitted on time for preferred schools.

An application for a full-time school place must be made even if a child is already attending a nursery class in an infant or primary school, a pre-school or a children’s centre next to a school site.

Councillor Mary Evans, cabinet member for education said: “All parents and carers need to complete their application by the closing date of 15 January so that they have the best chance of securing a place at one of their preferred schools.

“We recommend applying for more than one school and parents and carers can list up to three schools on their application form in order of preference.”
