Aircraft and aircrew from both RAF Mildenhall and RAF Lakenheath have deployed to Turkey to fly anti-ISIL operations in Irag and Syria.

In-flight refuelling KC-135 tankers from Mildenhall’s 100th Air Refuelling Wing are supporting F-15E Strike Eagle fighter bombers from Lakenheath’s 48th Fighter Wing, flying out of Incirlik Air Base, Turkey, in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.

The Strike Eagle is designed to perform air-to-air and air-to-ground missions in all weather conditions.

The aircraft deployed last Thursday. The USAF has not said how many aircraft or service people have gone to Turkey.
