Accusations of ‘second class broadband’

Have your say

BT has been accused of treating Brandon as a ‘second class citizen’ after it emerged there are no immediate plans for the roll out of superfast broadband to the town.

Cllr Ian Horner told Monday’s town council meeting that Thetford already had superfast broadband, while Brandon was not included in BT’s present plans which run into next year.

That means it will not be until 2014 at the earliest that the town gets high speed internet connection.
“We are being treated as a second class citizen,” Cllr Horner said. “I think this is really important for the future of the town.”

The council resolved to write both to BT and Forest Heath District Council requesting superfast broadband as soon as possible.
