A14 reopens after police swoop on car in search of gun
The A14 was closed this afternoon after police swooped on a car believed to be carrying a gun.
Police were called at 3.10pm to reports of a vehicle 'passing at speed with a suspected firearm'.
Officers stopped the car and closed the westbound carriageway between junctions 42 and 43 while they searched the vehicle.
A Suffolk Police spokesman said: "Nothing untoward was found and the vehicle was free to go."
The road reopened at around 4pm.
