A DOZEN shops remain closed today after the fire at Cupola House/ Strada restaurant in Bury St Edmunds at the weekend,

Nationwide, Jessops, Phones 4 U, Specsavers, Lloyds, ELC, East, 02 Claire’s Accessories, Mr Shoes, Harriet’s tearooms and Halifax all remain closed today.

Emergency services advised 42 businesses in the town to remain closed on Sunday as a result of the fire in The Traverse. The blaze saw part of the building both at the front and back, collapse, leading to the safety precautions.

A message board detailing shops which are open or closed has been posted in The Buttermarket, close to the War Memorial and Postbox.

Preston and Duckworth is open to staff today but not to customers.
