An £8.4 million scheme to transform the former post office, in Bury St Edmunds, has passed its first hurdle.

On Tuesday, St Edmundsbury Borough Council’s cabinet recommended full council agrees a £6.72 million redevelopment, including shops and 12 apartments, when it meets next week.

The council bought the site for £1.68 million last year.
