Jobs are under threat at Rougham-based refrigeration and air conditioning firm HRP as its parent company looks to restructure.
A total of 42 jobs are at risk at the firm’s headquarters on Rougham Industrial Estate as its Swedish owner Beijer looks to move the operation to its central distribution centre in Leeds.
John Billson, Managing Director of Beijer UK and Ireland, said HRP was in ‘poor shape’ and need a restructure.
He said: “We have owned 44 percent of the business since 2009 and then took control on November 18 last year.
“This business was in very poor shape so we have had to restructure it.
“It is a wholesale business with the headquarters based in Rougham and the central distribution in Leeds.
“We want to have both the central distribution and administration centre in Leeds.
“We could have either bust the company or restructured it. We are doing this to protect jobs in Norwich and Bedford.”
John said the firm were undertaking a 12 week consultation with staff.
“If they can come up with some creative ideas to prevent this we will work from there.
“This is not a good situation but we are protecting jobs elsewhere in the country.
“I understand it is a big shock to the local area but we cannot see any other way through this.”
