Thousands flock to 10th Classic and Sports Cars by the Lake in Fornham St Martin

More than 5,000 people flocked to the 10th Classic and Sports Cars by the Lake in Fornham St Martin on Sunday and raised thousands for St Nicholas Hospice Care.

The day is held thanks to Andrew and Gina Long, of Hall Farm, and organised by volunteers, with many on board since day one.

Andrew Long, who dreamed up the idea for Classic and Sports Cars by the Lake with wife Gina during their honeymoon a decade ago, said the event would not be possible without the enthusiasm of the organising committee, event sponsors and supporters, the car owners and those who visit on the day.

"The event started in a humble way and has evolved. But without the cars there is no show," he said.

George Chilvers, of the hospice, said: “We are hugely grateful to all those involved. Without their support the show would not have turned into the occasion it is.”
