Bury St Edmunds Round Table is running an artwork competition to select the lucky young person who will start this year’s firework spectacular in the Abbey Gardens.

The display on Saturday will raise thousands for local causes and the fun starts from 5.30pm.

The event has been running for the last 40 years and the winner of the art competition will join Bury St Edmunds MP Jo CHurchill and St Edmundsbury Mayor Julia Wakelam on stage to start the display which starts at 7.30pm.

As well as the fireworks there are fairground rides and plenty of stalls serving tasty treats and drinks.

Last year the Round Table raised £17,000 from the firework display and organiser are hoping to match or improve on this figure.

Advance saver tickets can be bought from Sainsbury’s, Tesco’s. Moyses Hall Museum, Croasdales, sponsors Sheridans and The Apex - £5 adult, £4 child, £15 family.
