A group of aspiring young actors, designers and technicians have taken the reigns of a Suffolk theatre company to put on a show in Bury St Edmunds.

Spinning Wheel Theatre has handed over control to 15 young adults to put on their own production of A Night Out, a menacing drama by Harold Pinter.

The project, called Takeover, will see the team of 16 to 25-year-olds stage a full production of the play on August 1 and 2 at the St John’s Centre.

Originally written for radio, Pinter’s psychological drama follows Albert, a man controlled by his suffocating mother until an office party offers him a chance to escape.

However, his one night of freedom takes a sinister turn when a false accusation leads him down a dangerous path.

The Takeover team, who launched a Kickstarter campaign to boost funding, have taken full control of the show from set and costume design to marketing.
