Circus pitches up its big top in town

ROLL up, roll up – families have been treated to all the fun of the circus this week as some world class entertainers set up their big top.

Russell’s International Circus kickd off a three-day stint in Mildenhall last night, having set up on the Jubilee Fields.

The twice-a-day show is strictly human, with no lion tamers or juggling elephants to be seen on stage.

Rusy Russell, managing director of the circus, said their show was traditional circus craft with a twist.

“We’ve got no animals anymore so we’ve got more spectacular acts from abroad, including members of the Hungarian State Circus,” he said.

Trapeze acts, a springboard act, a giant see saw and jugglers are on show as well as clown, Alex Morley.

The show has come back to Mildenhall after its run last year was cancelled due to the redevelopment of the Recreation Way car park.

Rusy said: “We don’t normally do the same route, but we wanted to come back here to make up for last year’s cancellation.”
