THE FIRST of two heats for the BurySOUND battle of the bands competition was held on Friday.

Six acts rocked the apex in Bury St Edmunds, hoping to impress the judges and secure a place in the final on November 4.

The If If Industry, The Soft, Home Salvation, Danielle Scharpf, Cathedrals and Cars and The Curhb entertained the enthusiastic crowd with an energetic mix of different music styles.

But it was singer-songwriter Danielle Scharpf and acoustic guitar duo Cathedrals and Cars who impressed on the night and were put through to the final.

The next round of heats is being held at the apex on October 22.

Cassetto, Harmless Insanity, Rusty Keys, Lewis Mokler and Misdirect will battle for the final two places in the final.
