The Jon Hart Band launched their new album, Level With Me, on Friday.

The 11-track album features David Bacon on drums and Michael Orange on Bass – with a special guest appearances from Ellie Jamieson and cellist Claire Hollocks.

As well as launching the new album, the band also unveiled a new music video for their track Sailors Daughter.

Singer and guitarist Jon said the launch party, at the Apex ,in Bury St Edmunds, was a huge success.

He said: “We had a really full crowd there. It was great to get everyone in for the show and to play some of the new material for the first time. I am really proud of the album – I think it is the best thing we have ever done.”

Jon and the band recorded the album at the new John Peel Centre for Creative Arts and Studio 1 at West Suffolk College.

Jon, who is emigrating to Australia next year, said: “It is nice to leave with a parting ‘Thanks for the music’. The music on this album encompasses the past year of playing with such a great band.”

Jon said working to a deadline helped stir the band’s creative juices.

He said: “Most of what is on the new album has been born out of the pressure to get the album ready for the deadline we set ourselves. It really felt like a triumph on Friday night.

“It was really nice to see all our loyal followers and showcase our new material.”

Jon thanked local artist Suzanne Wonfor for the album’s cover artwork. Level With Me is available from Sounds Plus in Bury or at www.bandcamp.com
