Award-winning Bury St Edmunds Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society had a bit of a problem - it needed to find the lone male character for its forthcoming production of Stepping Out.
The pivotal character of Geoffrey, amongst all the women in the dance class, provides contrast, laughter and a bitter-sweet unspoken love interest for the shy, withdrawn female character of Andy.
BSEAODS searched high and low, and at the last minute, hours before rehearsals were due to start, they found Marc Kerr, pictured by Keith Mindham, who was persuaded back after a 15 year break from performing with BSEAODS.
Marc, who was professionally trained at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and is now working in Bury St Edmunds, saved the day. He has joined the cast for this lively production of Richard Harris’ Stepping out, immortalised on stage and screen by Anita Harris, Julie Walters and Liza Minnelli.
The production is on at Bury Theatre Royal at 7.30pm on Friday July 25 and Saturday July 26, with a 2.30pm matinee on the Saturday.
Tickets are £8.50 to £20.00 from the theatre box office, 01284 769505 or www.theatreroyal.org
