Bury St Edmunds Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society (BSEAODS) is ready to take the Theatre Royal stage by storm from October 11 to 15 with its latest production, Grease.
Still a timeless classic after over 35 years, Grease first exploded onto the screens in 1978, launching the careers of Olivia Newton John and John Travolta into the singing stratosphere.
Lou Petch, director, said: “I remember when the film came out and have been in love with the story, the dances and obviously the songs ever since.”
An all-amateur cast of 34 will perform this much-loved piece in just a few short weeks’ time, having been rehearsing since June. Expertly led by Lou Petch, director, Jackie Strahm, choreographer, and Simon Pearce as musical director, the run up to the show has been great fun.
Having drawn over 60 hopefuls to audition, the cast of new and ‘old’ members alike are excited to get into the theatre as Grease is always going to be a show that people know and love.
Marc Kerr, playing the iconic part of Danny Zuko, says: “We’ve got a brilliant show on our hands. There’s something in it for everyone and we hope our audiences enjoys watching is as much as we have enjoyed bringing it together over the last few months.”
The score is made up of hit after hit and includes favourites like You’re The One That I Want, Hopelessly Devoted To You, Grease Lightening, Beauty School Dropout, We Go Together and Summer Nights, audiences are sure to be singing and dancing in their seats.
With eye-catching costumes, top-class singing, toe-tapping choreography and a story that’s sure to tug on the heartstrings, this show is selling out fast and certainly isn’t one audiences are going to want to miss out on.
