A NEW delicatessen, offering a host of gastronomic delights, is opening in Bury St Edmunds next week.

Gastrono-me, in St John’s Street, opens its doors on Saturday, November 12, selling freshly baked breads, cheeses, cured meats, cakes, desserts and even its own decanted oils. Owners Mike and Gemma Simmonite say they want the shop to be a real part of the town.

Gemma said: “We are trying to create an abundance of food all under one roof.

“We wanted it to be a sensory feast so when you come in and make your way round the shop you get the smells of the bread, the olives the spices. We are both pretty obsessed with food. We have lived all over the country but this is the first place felt we could call home. I have been planning to have a shop like this since I was a little girl, my parents ran a restaurant so food has always been my passion.”
