CHILDREN have been putting pencil, pen and paintbrush to paper to create peace posters for an annual competition.

Sarah Cooper, 11, was declared the winner of the competition sponsored by Stowmarket Lions Club.

The Combs Middle School pupil was chosen as the local winner for her original and artistic poster portraying the theme of Vision of Peace. She went through to the regional finals where she came second.

Sarah, from Onehouse, said: “I didn’t think I was going to win, so when I did it was quite a surprise. I really like art. I would like to do it in the future but at the moment it’s just a hobby.”

She was one of 375,000 entrants worldwide in the competition which encourages children to artistically portray what they think peace is.
