Review: Fat Cat Comedy Club, Apex, Bury St Edmunds

Despite our recent freakish weather, the Fat Cat Comedy Club audience bravely ventured out and boy was it worth it.

December’s show saw a refreshing change to watching three different comedians, as acclaimed comedy sketch trio Wit Tank stole the show.

Our local compere Andre Vincent welcomed us with a few local gags about the A11 and the joys of a Suffolk accent. His likeness to Santa was hard to forget when he highlighted the absurd things we do over the festive period.

The middle of our comedy sandwich was laid back Aussie Damian Clark, who was a bit of a shock compared to local man Andre. It took a while for the audience to warm to him. He came across as an Austrian Bill and Ted ‘dude.’ Nevertheless, he focused on cultural differences between Australia and England, poking fun at both sides.

The ultimate climax was that of the tremendous trio; Wit Tank. Aptly starting with their own ridiculous version of The Snowman, the audience were hooked. Their sketches were short and snappy, with ridiculous characters producing big laughs.

Relishing in each other’s mistakes they would mischievously try and trip each other up at every opportunity!

This act is definitely one to watch out for in 2014. With audience involvement and its greatly spontaneous nature, you felt you were at the Edinburgh Fringe.

So why not try something new this year? Check out who is playing for 12th of January at The Apex, Bury St Edmunds.
