WALSHAM-le-Willows FC are safe from Ridgeons League Premier Division relegation according to team manager Paul Smith.
Following a 2-0 win at Wisbech Town on Saturday – the Willows' first away league triumph since August – the Summer Road-based outfit have moved five places and 14 points clear of the bottom three with nine games remaining.

"Mathematically, it is still possible for us to be relegated, but I am confident a 14-point gap is enough to see us avoid the drop in our first season at this level," said Smith.

"That was our aim at the start of the season and we are delighted to have reached our target.

"There were certainly a few celebrations on the journey back from Wisbech," he added.

Walsham host sixth-placed Dereham Town on Easter Monday (ko 3pm), aiming to avenge the 7-0 thumping they received at Aldiss Park in October.

"Dereham gave us a good hiding at their place and it is important we show them that we are a far better side than the manner in which we played on that occasion."

Defender Trevor Newman misses the game through suspension after picking up five yellow cards this season.
