Grey skies were brightened by dazzling aerobatic displays at the Thurston Air Training Corps fair at the weekend.
Star appearances by a Sea King Helicopter, a Mustang P51 and retired RAF Chipmunk trainer, all drew the crowds at the annual event held at Thurston Community College.

James Perna, media and communications officer for 863 (Thurston) Squadron, said: "There was a great atmosphere, the rain didn't dampen peoples' spirits.

"The variety of aircraft we had was absolutely fantastic."

A commemoration of the 90th anniversary of the end of World War One topped the traditional last night of the Proms on Saturday evening which finished with a firework finale.

A live performance by the RAF Honington Voluntary Band provided a soundtrack to the air fair on Sunday, which featured an aerobatic display by Mark Jefferies, British aerobatics champion.

Flying Officer Perna said: "People really enjoyed the event and there was a great community spirit."
