Record crowds were believed to have turned out for Rougham Airfield's Model Aircraft Show at the weekend, with organisers blessed with good weather for the annual event.
Nearly 5,000 people were estimated to have attended the show on Saturday and Sunday, when model aircraft ranging, from helicopters to gliders, were on display for enthusiasts.

The event, which attracted exhibitors and visitors from across the country, also saw one of the largest model aircraft in the world give a flypast.

But the C17 Globemaster, which is powered by two gas turbines, weighs 120 kilos and is 6ft tall, had to be grounded for the rest of the weekend after it was damaged during its flight.

Pat Marsden, of the Bury St Edmunds Model Flying Club, which organises the show, said: "We were very lucky with the weather and the crowds. We've been running the model flying show for about eight years and it's grown every year.

"This year, it was excellent. We had model aircraft from all over the country, including the largest radio-controlled helicopter in Europe.

"Our youngest pilot was 12 and others were in their 80s – the youngsters pick it up really well and show the rest of us up."
