NEWLY-APPOINTED Thetford Town FC manager Mick Money has vowed to lift the club from mid-table mediocrity to Ridgeons League Division One promotion within three years.
The 45-year-old former Mildenhall Town first-team coach was appointed as the Mundford Road chief at the weekend.
He has inherited a squad unable to find consistency from his predecessor Simon Brooks – who was relieved of his duties at the start of
the month.
Money, who played for the Brecklanders for two seasons as a teenager, will select his squad for the first time on Wednesday, for the trip to Stowmarket Town (ko 7.45pm).
"Thetford Town has huge potential and I want to help the club fulfil it," said Money.
"I have a three-year plan and I believe we will be promoted within that time scale.
"I am aware it is a big task and we may have to take a step back before we can take two steps forward. However, I am excited about the challenge and will give it my best shot," he added.
The former AFC Sudbury striker has also promised to give local youth a chance to shine.
"Thetford do not have a massive budget and so it is difficult to attract the best players. But there are other ways to get success and one of them is by developing young potential.
"The town has a reputation for producing good goalkeepers. If we can extend that to outfield players as well then we will be a force to be reckoned with."
Money watched his new side suffer a 3-1 home defeat against Debenham LC on Saturday (match report on page 71) despite Thetford taking an early lead through the impressive Pat Armes.
John Denniss will assist Money until the end of the season before John Finsham is appointed assistant manager in the summer.
