MICK Money was full of praise for his new-look Thetford Town FC team after taking charge for the first time on Wednesday.
The Mundford Road chief, who handed starts to young quartet Tom Catchpole, Matthew Catchpole, Ross Bellingham and Cameron Senior, saw the Brecklanders twice come from behind to earn a deserved Ridgeons League Division One 2-2 draw at in-form Stowmarket Town.

"Some of the players I selected were rarely given a look-in before I arrived and they all played as if they had a point to prove," said Money.

"I will give the young, local players a chance to shine and on this evidence the future is extremely bright for the club. We passed the ball well in spells and perhaps deserved all three points against a strong Stowmarket team."

The hosts broke the deadlock on 38 minutes after Dean Pleasance had supplied a pin-point cross to Tony Cracknell, who lobbed Lee Hulyer.

Town responded and were level two minutes later when Andrew Wood coolly slotted the ball home.

The hard work was undone within a minute courtesy of a Hulyer howler. The Town shot-stopper allowed a speculative Pleasance effort to slip through his grasp before bobbling over the line.

However, he redeemed himself after the break by pulling off two stunning saves to keep his side in the game.

Boosted by this, Thetford pushed forward and Wood – who was a menace all evening – turned in the box before firing home the equaliser.
