A residents' association is urging people to object to plans to turn parking areas on a Thetford estate into housing.
Croxton Road Residents' Association (CRRA) is against plans to demolish two garage forecourt areas on the Ladies Estate to build flats and townhouses.
Peddars Way Housing Association has already submitted an outline planning application to Breckland Council.
Although the scheme is currently looking at converting garage sites off Mother Julian Close, Celia Phillips Close and Anne Bartholomew Road, the housing association is also looking at other parking areas on the estate for possible future development.
Mark Ludford, chairman of CRRA, said: "We are urging all the residents to write in and object to the plans and are giving them details of how to do so.
"Many people moved on to the Ladies Estate because there were lots of green spaces and you were not overlooked. This is going to spoil all of that if you have a block of six flats overlooking your garden."
Mr Ludford encouraged people who did not live in the areas affected to object because plans for further building could affect them in the future.
Mr Ludford said the plans were cramming in more housing which would increase car parking problems on the estate.
The outline planning application is to demolish 30 garages at a site off Mother Julian Close and Celia Phillips Close for six flats and 10 car parking spaces.
The housing association also wants to knock down 32 garages off Anne Bartholomew Road and Celia Phillips Close to build four three-bedroom townhouses and provide eight parking spaces.
Peddars Way says many of the garages are boarded up and vacant or prone to vandalism. It said that a car parking survey suggested there was considerable unused space on the estate to accommodate spaces lost to the proposed development.
